The session will discuss in detail the problems of İzmir, with the participation of Cevat Durak, - known as the ‘crazy’ architect of urban regeneration – the Mayor of Karşıyaka, one of the largest districts of the city. Durak will inform the audience on the past and current status of the area with examples from Karşıyaka Örnekköy District Urban Renewal and Development Project and Alaybey Project, and on the future scenarios for the area with a particular focus on earthquake risks.
 

Ömer Egesel, a prominent name of the real estate sector and the General Manager of Tekfen Egesel Real Estate Development, Selim Gökdemir, the Chairman of Megapol Group – a leading company expert in construction, real estate and renewable energy in Izmir – and Enis Öncüoğlu, the founding partner of Öncüoğlu Architecture and an award-winning architect with both national and international projects. The moderator of the panel will be Işıl Dinçer, the General Manager of TSKB Real Estate Appraisal JSC that serves consultancy on project development, feasibility and sectoral analysis along with investment examination and analyses beside real estate appraisal.
