He is a city planner. He has an undergraduate degree in city and regional planning and a graduate degree in urban policy planning and local governments at Middle East Technical University (METU). In his working life, he worked as a city planner in private sector, professional chamber, central and local government organisations. He has been a member of the executive boards of Ankara branch, Istanbul branch and the central board of the Chamber of City Planners since 1996, and was the chairman of Istanbul branch and the central board. He has been members of organisation boards and science committees of dozens of congresses and symposiums which are national and international. He has also dozens of notifications to various congresses and symposiums, some of which are published. He has been members of the juries of project competetions. He makes presentations in vocational training seminars on planning and construction laws and by-laws. He also studies and writes about the issues on city and regional planning, legal aspects of planning and construction, local governments and urban questions. In these issues, he has dozens of articles published in books, magazines and web sites. He gives two lectures on the professional ethics in city planning and the technology, the production and the city at Yildiz Technical University. He is active members of the Chamber of City Planners, Istanbul METU Alumni Association, Sureyya Agaoglu Friends of Children Association and Sureyya Agaoglu Education Foundation.
